America’s Family Pet Expo

I’m so sad to say that the Pet Expo I saw scheduled was in 2005 not 2008. Unfortunately if you receive an RSS feed from me then the feed was incorrect. As far as I can tell there’s no pet expo scheduled in Pomona this year. Sorry for the incorrect information.

A couple months ago Stetson and I had the opportunity to attend the Pet Expo in Costa Mesa, CA and also helped out a bit with the Guide Dog’s of America booth. We also visited our friends at the Cuddly Canines booth and talked to a couple of the volunteers we’ve worked with: James and Vanessa. We wrote a couple short articles leading up to the event…here’s a link to those two articles: Orange County Pet Expo 2008.

Pet Expo

Fun With Stetson At The Orange County Pet Expo

It had slipped my mind, but I did want to put together a follow-up to the activities, booths, fun, and excitement of the Pet Expo. Stetson and I tried to get friends and family to hang out at the Pet Expo with us, but unfortunately everyone was busy. Lucky for us we saw several of our friends from Guide Dogs of America and got to hang out with them for a good part of the day.

Splash Dogs

One of our favorite events is the Splash Dogs competition. It’s basically a long platform with a swimming pool at the end of the platform. The goal of the competition is to see who’s dog can jump furthest in to the pool. It’s a lot of fun and can also cool you off on a hot day (the big dogs make quite a splash).

In years past I’ve seen a similar splash dogs competition where the dogs go for height rather than distance.

I plan on writing a more extended review on splash dogs in another post.

K9 Demonstration

We missed the K9 demonstration, but it’s one of the events we will hopefully catch at the Pomona Pet Expo

Gallery Of Products

The gallery of products some of the newest, strangest, most interesting products for dogs and pets in general. There’s also tons of toys and treats at discounted prices. We only purchased one item at the Pet Expo…a little device that you screw on to the end of a regular water bottle that allows your dog to drink straight from the water bottle. I’ll write up a short review on the product in another post.

The Rescues

Our favorites…Cuddly Canines was there along with many other wonderful rescues showing off their adoptable dogs. If you’ve been thinking about adopting a dog or puppy the Pet Expo is a great place to see many different adoptable dogs.

The Breeds

It seems like every breed had it’s own booth at the Pet Expo. You get the chance to get up close and personal with almost every breed you can think of. If you’re interested in a dog, but not sure what breed would fit your lifestyle, the Pet Expo is a great place is to find information on individual breeds.

Other Animals

One of the reasons we attend the Pet Expo was to expose Stetson to the different animals. We saw Alpaca, horses, birds, different dog breeds, chicken, sheep, snakes, and lizards. We figured it would be a bad idea to visit the cat tent.

There were many other demonstrations going on besides the events listed above. Those are just a few that I can remember off the top of my head. I’ll be sure and put another post together after the Pomona Pet Expo.

Did anyone else attend the America’s Family Pet Expo in Costa Mesa this year?
