Introducing The New Improved PuppyInTraining.com!

It’s been a long hard battle for me, but I finally gave the Puppy In Training website a much needed face lift. If you’re an RSS subscriber and only receive my articles in your feed reader or by email then take a moment to visit the new improved Puppy In Training website.
Gone is yesterday’s colors, page design, and layouts. Say hello to the new magazine style layout. We no longer have the look and feel of a standard blog, but instead we chose to design the front page in quadrants with different topics covered in each section. We finally got the new logo up that we talked about and showed you a couple months ago at Evolution Of A Puppy In Training Logo. We stuck with the Puppy in Training Magazine name as we wanted this to be kind of an online interactive magazine type of site. Here’s an image and some brief descriptions about the new layout:

- The main section in the middle will contain a Featured Article along with tabbed categories that you can quickly click through.
- Below that are two columns containing a Puppy And Dog Training section and a Puppy And Dog Events section.
- In the top right quadrant is our Featured Product. Our current featured product is the SitStayFetch Dog Obedience Training program. We read this e-book from cover to cover during our trip to Alaska. We plan on posting a review of the program in the near future.
- Just below that in the bottom right quadrant are our regular Product Reviews. We have several products at home that we will have reviewed in the coming months.
- There are also two horizontal navigation bars. One at the very top of the page which shows our regular pages (mainly about the site) and a second navigation bar just below the logo that shows our website blog topics (this is where our blog articles will be organized.
There’s still a lot of work to be done, but overall I’m definitely pleased with what we have up right now. You’ll notice that I have thrown in some sponsored advertising here and there on the site. This is in hopes to offset any costs associated with keeping this site up and running.

@Melbourne Accommodation, sorry for the late response. Earlier this year we wrote a couple articles about The Top 10 Dogs Good With Children Part I and Part II. That’s a good starting point. However, there are a lot of things to consider when getting a dog especially with a young son.
One book that I read before purchasing my first dog was the Puppies for Dummies book which I thought was very helpful in choosing a dog.
From my own experience raising a dog commands a lot of your time. If you cannot spend lots of quality time with your dog and involve him in family activities then you may want to wait until your son is a little older.

We have been considering adding a dog to our family for some time and now our son is 16mth I am wondering if the time is right. Where should we start the process of deciding the most appropriate dog for our family or should we wait until our son is a little older?
@dog beds gal, I appreciate the compliments on the Puppy In Training site design. We’re still a work in progress, but I’m glad you like it. Hopefully it’s a little bit easier to navigate then the old site design.
By the way, I had a chance to take a peek at BlingBlingPuppy site. Some of those dog houses and beds are pretty cool.
Wow, that is a great looking logo. The site design is also clean and intuitive. I know, because I have a background in web design. I don’t think that it really needs anything in terms of improvement. I also like the mild color scheme.
I plan on adding Derby articles to the Puppy In Training section in the tabber area. One thing I’ve noticed is that I usually take very few pictures of Derby when we go on our outings and that’s usually why I don’t write too much about him. I need to bring my mom with me every time go on one of our little outings since she likes to take so many pictures.
When I was putting together my post on the OCTA free guide dog bus ride: Have You Ever Seen A Dog On The Bus I noticed I had zero pictures of Derby.
I’ll do my best to get more Derby on the site…maybe a beach outing is in order?
I like the clean easy to read and navigate design of the new Puppy In Training site. I think seeing more of Derby would be nice, 🙂
