Jubilant adjective
- showing great joy, satisfaction, or triumph; rejoicing; exultant:
the cheers of the jubilant victors; the jubilant climax of his symphony.
Take a look at the picture above: Archer is a jubilant puppy trying to show his buddy Raven his favorite rat toy. If you have a Labrador Retriever pup like Archer I’m sure from time to time he has to show you one of his prize possessions whether it be a plush doggy toy, his tennis ball, one of his KONG toys, or his favorite deer antler. Or maybe he brings you some of his inappropriate “toys” like your socks, underwear, shoes, or perhaps an unknown item from outside….
Unfortunately, last week Archer and Raven brought me one of those “unknown items” from outside. I saw the two playing in the corner of the house in a jubilant manner. When I got closer they revealed their prize possession:
Archer & Raven: Look Dad! We found a dead bird in the yard!
Me: What do you guys have there…Ewwww!!! Gross!!! Drop It!!!
Fortunately, they dropped the dead bird and left it on the floor for me to dispose of in the outside trash can. When I came back in the house I saw Raven rolling around on the spot where she dropped the dead bird. 🙁 I guess it could have been worse. She could have been rolling around in poop…
Moral of the story: Keep a close eye on your pups when they are playing in the yard.
Today I’m thankful that my pups did not eat the dead bird and they didn’t catch any weird diseases after carrying the poor little guy around the house. No stomach aches, loose stool, or diarrhea after the incident. Just healthy, happy, jubilant puppies 🙂

Hahaha…that’s an awesome picture!
Yep! I love that pic too! King of the Rats!
Yuk! I’m particularly wary of dead birds since they can carry so many diseases. I’m glad your pups are fine and jubiiant after their find in the yard. 🙂
The picture is absolutely adorable!
Yes, the diseases was a worry for me, but all is well with our pups. Thanks for stopping by!
Yup. My big boys have brought us birds and snakes. My Chihuahua brought us a rabbit once…
I’m not too fond of any of the prizes my dog’s bring home, but snakes? I’m a bit like Indiana Jones when it comes to snakes. 🙁
Yikes! My two are more likely to bark at things they find in the yard. I think they think I can somehow resurrect the dead. That makes them less than jubilant, huh?

Have you had any possums in the yard? Those things will come back to life and they like to hiss 🙁
My kittyhood can best be described as expressive. I was very expressive in my actions and my words. In many ways I still am even though as an older, wiser cat it takes a little more to get me to express myself. Oh and the whole bird thing, yeah! I like to bring my humans any past living animal that I find. That’s how I show them I love them.
Meowrrrr,
Shadow the cat and Sarah the human.
Awww…expressive kitty! Cats are the best at bringing the humans a prize. So proud! 🙂
Every puppy needs an older sibling to show them how to be a good dog. I love that photo. I’d describe Bentley as my soul dog and Pierre the happiest dog ever! Happy Thanksgiving. ☺
Archer is a happy boy. Raven the Golden I’d have to describe as velcro 🙂
Such a cutie. Glad they didn’t get sick. My cat used to bring trophies, but Kilo the Pug doesn’t get much opportunity.
When I was roomies with my sister her cat used to bring in lizards and birds. She was so proud (the cat that is).
They do enjoy some pretty disgusting stuff.
Yes, they do. They also like going in the yard and searching for cat poop 🙁
Aww, such a sweet photo! 🙂
Thank you! They’re sweet puppies 🙂
