Are You Looking For A Custom Dog House?

One of my friends has been working for an architecture firm for the past year or so, but he recently has had the itch to design custom dog houses. We always used to have dog houses for our family dogs at home. Unfortunately, because I live in a small condo with just a patio I haven’t had the luxury of getting a dog house let alone a custom dog house for my furry friends (hopefully that will all change as I’m looking to buy a house with a nice backyard).
I stopped by my architecture friend’s house the other day and got a first hand look at one of his custom dog house prototypes. My girlfriend’s parents dog, Yuki even had the chance to test drive this doggy home.
Custom Craftsman Dog House
I don’t think he has names for these houses yet so we’ll just call prototype 1 the Craftsman Dog House.
Yep, that’s our pal Yuki testing out one of the porches on this little abode. It looks pretty comfy!
Here’s another angle of the same house…and the same dog…this time practicing a sit-stay. You can see on the inside there’s a nice little doggy bed to keep your little buddy cozy and warm.
Here’s a side angle and you can see Luke in the background about to settle into his dog bed. I’m not too sure what the pricing will be on these custom dog houses, but I’m sure you can work on pricing with the designer.
I’ve been looking for a new home (a human home that is) for a few years now and I really like the architecture of this Craftsman Dog House (I’ve been actually looking at Eichler homes). Hopefully if I can find the right Eichler home I can commission my buddy to design a beautify mid-century modern Eichler doggy home for Stetson, Linus, and Adelle. First things first…I have to find a new home for me and the doggies. Wish us luck!

UPDATE: We heard that the pricing is going to be somewhere between $400-600 depending on the size of your dog. Here are some more pictures of this dog house. Also, I made some updates to the post as indeed this is a Craftsman Bungalow style dog house.

If this were my puppy I would first consult with the breeder to find out what’s wrong with the puppy then I would talk to my vet to find out if it’s a minor or serious illness. Good luck with your new puppy!

Instead of modern, I’d call that dog house Craftsman – which I love! How fun. Look forward to seeing the house you make for your dogs in your Eichler :).

You are totally correct this is a Craftsman. I think I’ve been a bit too caught up in trying to get escrow closed on my own house these past few weeks and really wasn’t thinking. I made some updates to the post to reflect that indeed it’s a Craftsman.

Wow, that is some prime doggy real estate! I kind of wish my chihuahua was more fond of dog houses, she’s not very into the one we have already. Interestingly she uses it more as a storage shed for her toys. I wonder if she’d like lounging in a house like that though.

I’m blessed to have a carpenter for a dad and he built us a gorgeous dog house for free!

You should also get one of those automatic ball launchers too!! Those look so neat! Maybe it can be attached to the side of the dog house!
I’ve always thought a cool dog house would be really cool in the back yard, but our dogs are never out there. What I would LOVE is to have a crate housing for inside the house that looked classy and elegant and, well, more like furniture. With two dog crates in the living room, it’s a bit challenging.
I only have a patio and the wall is too low to allow my dogs out there unsupervised. I have two wire crates in my bedroom. I agree I could use a couple of fashionable crates in the house. I’ll check and see if he would be interested in designing some fashionable crates.
Unfortunately the only problem with nice design is it ends up costing a pretty penny. I looked up mid century modern dog houses and came across a pretty cool house, but the price was $1,150! I have to find out more to see what my buddy is thinking about charging for his designs.
